What are the symptoms of hemorrhoids?

The symptoms of Hemorrhoidal disease are associated with each other in a variable way from one person to another. They occur either acutely in the form of a hemorrhoidal crisis or on a continuous basis when the disease has been evolving for a long time.

The Hemorrhoidal crisis combines pain, bleeding through the anus, prolapse of hemorrhoids and can complicate hemorrhoidal thrombosis.

Hemorrhoidal pain.
The Hemorrhoidal crisis is painful. This congestive thrust is accompanied by sensations of warmth, swelling and gravity at the level of the anus. These pains are aggravated by defecation or physical exercise and relieved by the elongated position. They last two to four days.

Red blood Bleeding Through the anus or rectorragies.
Hemorrhoids can ooze or bleed after switching to the toilet. Red Blood (Hematochezia) appears in or after the stool. The bleeding is of varying importance: some red traces on the toilet paper,
Bleeding in gout,
Blood spatter on the toilet bowl,
Sometimes bleeding staining the underwear.

The swelling or prolapse of hemorrhoids by the anus.
prolapse means that internal hemorrhoids are protruded by the hole in the anus. It translates into a perceived swelling in the anus that can occur:

  • After a saddle or during an effort,
  • On a permanent basis if hemorrhoids have been evolving for a long time.

This swelling can be spontaneously reintegrated or repressed in the patient's channel. This prolapse is responsible for the discomfort, seepage, burns and itching of the butt (pruritus).

Thrombosis of external hemorrhoids.
Thrombosis of external hemorrhoids is due to the presence of a blood clot inside the hemorrhoid. It translates into the brutal appearance of a very painful bluish swelling, sitting at the entrance of the anus. This swelling is often surrounded by a very inflammatory area (œdématiée, red and painful).

Internal hemorrhoid thrombosis is rarer.

How does hemorrhoidal disease evolve?

Most of the hemorrhoidal painful seizures fade away and disappear on their own in a matter of days. However, they tend to reappear.

If the hemorrhoidal disease evolves over several years, the symptoms become very troublesome:

  • The pain can be daily and the itching of the butt appears.
  • If the bleeding is repeated, they may be responsible for anemia.
  • In the case of prolapse, the latter can become permanent, not being able to be repressed in the channel.
  • Defecation disorders (false needs) may appear and be troublesome.

This is why it is important to consult your attending physician to learn about possible treatments if symptoms persist or reappear often.

Hemorrhoids do not cause serious health complications.
