Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and it deserves some serious love. Whether you’re in your teens of your 50s, following a routine for healthy skin will help minimize environmental damage, and keep you looking and feeling your best.

But, as with most things, what works when you’re 15 just doesn’t cut it when you’re 45. You skin’s needs change throughout the years – and your routine should change to meet those needs.

  • Look for cleansers containing salicylic acid to control oil production and increase hydration.
  • Cleansers with glycolic acid can help get rid of dead skin cells that build up and contribute to acne.
  • Creams, gels or lotions with Vitamin A or benzoyl peroxide can also help unblock pores.
  • And don’t skip the sunscreen when hanging out outdoors! Sun damage not only causes premature aging — reason enough to use all the SPF — but also increases your risk of melanoma.
